Concepts and Causes: Concept of Disaster, Crisis Concept, Basic Causes, Crisis and Disasters in Global Dimension, Crisis and Disasters in Regional Dimension, Crisis and Disasters in National Dimension, Human Disasters and Crises, Natural Disasters and Crises.

 

AKY 503 Disaster Management Policies

Turkish political system and disasters, central government and local government relations, duties and responsibilities of disaster related institutions, disaster laws, international disasters, politics and disasters, development of Turkish disaster management system.

 

AKY 505 Emergency Health Services Administration

Evaluating the Health Services, Emergency Health Services, Ambulance and emergency medical vehicles. Distinguishing ambulance equipment in Turkey. Evaluating the structure and functioning of emergency services in Turkey. Using forms in emergency health services in Turkey. Evaluating the authority and responsibilities of the paramedic. Making a task organization. Providing own safety. Providing patient / wounded security. Providing communication in ambulance and emergency medical services.

 

AKY 507 International Disaster Policies

International conferences, international solidarity efforts of the United Nations in disaster related activities, activities to provide disaster relief and financial support, International Strategy for Disaster Reduction.

 

AKY 509 State and Local Governments

The history of local administrations, The general administrative structure of Turkey, management institutions in Turkey. Special Provincial Administrations, villagers, municipality, metropolitan municipality, sub-district administration, Iller Bank, the tutelage supervision on the administrative bodies of the central government and provincial extension.

 

AKY 511 Geographic Information Systems and Spatial Analysis

Basic spatial analysis, decision support analysis, layer operations, point, mesh, surface and grid analysis methods. Spatial Data Query Language, Vectorization, Spatial Reference Relation. National and International Standards.

 

AKY 513 Risk Management Principles

Hazard risk management model, Risk management network, Risk assessment criteria, Risk identification, Sensitivity analysis, Risk analysis, Modeling techniques, Risk assessment, Risk mitigation, Risk communication and monitoring and evaluation of activities.

 

AKY 515 Hydrometeorological Disasters and Preparation

Hazardous weather events and hydrometeorological disasters, monitoring of hydrometeorological disasters and gathering of information, estimation of the effect of disasters, specific issues to be considered in the plan, flood control, floods and flood studies, meteorological early warning and coordination, social dimensions of early warning, early warning messages, development of effective community early warning processes, early warning exercises, coordination with meteorological warnings in disaster management.

 

AKY 517 Medical Terminology

It is aimed to acquire Medical Terminology in the framework of concepts such as Disaster, Emergency, Emergency Management, Integrated Disaster Management, Risk Management, Disaster Cycle, Intervention, Improvement, Preparation and Hazard.

 

AKY 519 Gender Sensitive Disaster Management

Social gender perspective and precaution. Sex-based effects of disasters, sex-based victimization. Victim groups and management. Gender-based fragility analysis, examples; Determination of post-disaster social gender based needs, problems of provisional housing and the implementation of development strategies for improvement.

 

AKY 521 Fire Risks and Emergency Management

Fire as disaster, fire in industrial premises and buildings, fire load assessment, fire extinguishing techniques, fire protection systems, fire system in buildings, entrance and exit theory of buildings, panic psychology and detection in buildings, big fires - events, fire phenomena in constructions, integrated fire protection concept, fire fighting standard.

 

AKY 523 Disaster and Crisis Management Training

Introduction to disaster preparedness: Disaster preparation activity, examples of disasters, consequences of hazards and hazard analysis. State intervention in disasters: Institutional inertia, state responsibilities and public expectations. General approach disaster preparedness training: Disaster preparedness training as an application of researches, coping with reactions, preparing people in high-risk buildings.

 

AKY 525 Environmental Hazards in Emergency Management

The consequences of disasters are to determine and characterize the environmental impacts and impact assessment needs, characterization, risk assessment for pollution, water network, sewer system, dam / reservoir, channels, industrial structures, refineries, chemical plants, toxic and hazardous material spills, ecological systems, Debris management plans, debris removal methods.

AKY599 Semester Project

Within the framework of the semester project course, students prepare a semester project in which they can determine the courses they have taken and the relevance of them, and they are approved by the advisory faculty member. The project is delivered to the consultants at the end of the term. Semester project courses will be held for all faculty members.

AKY 506 Research Design and Statistics in Disaster Management

Scientific measurement and data collection methods. Program evaluation, Information technology, Examination methods and applications of case studies. Financial-benefit analysis of harm mitigation. Survey design. Semi-experimental designs. Field research. Statistical analysis.

 

AKY 508 Public Health Practices in Disasters

Protecting the environment (Protection of accommodation, water security, food safety, vector control, waste control etc.), Personal protective services (vaccinations, chemoprophylaxis, health education etc.), Reaching the level of ordinary services, Reconstitution of the healthcare infrastructure.

AKY 514 Earthquake Risk Management

The occurrence of earthquake hazard and depression, Structural tectonics and faults, physical phenomena, distribution, earthquake parameters, effects of earthquake risk in comprehensive disaster management system, structural risks and harm reduction, improvement codes, building codes, education and information for earthquake damage mitigation, insurance, strengthening and restructuring, land use.

 

AKY 516 Case Studies in Emergency Management

Actions to be taken in Preparation, Intervention, Improvement and Damage Reduction Situations, Things to do Before and After the Emergency, to be taken against potential situations at Local, Regional and Global Levels. And related case studies, Review of the cases.

AKY 518 Tourism and Emergency Management

AKY 522 Determination of Post-Disaster Needs

After the disasters, disaster impacts, starting with the search-rescue and improving until the implementation of the detection of needs and needs and implementation studies.
